Season Close, Looking Forward to 2025

Local history group Dysart Trust has ended a ‘very successful year’ with a record number of visitors on Fife Doors Open day of over 100.

Trust chair Ken Robertson said:  “We concluded our Diamond Jubilee year with a great final day and a lot of interest from local people during our 13 weeks of Sunday openings.”  The total number of visitors over the whole season was over 350.

The popular exhibition of local history in Dysart Town Hall features a range of items from local social and industrial history including the colourful embroidered Dysart Wall hanging.

The high point during the open season, said Ken, was the interaction of local residents with the exhibition including the donation of old membership cards for local football teams and miners’ associations.

And one delighted 80-year old former Dysart resident was able to identify pupils from his old school.  “This kind of interaction is what the exhibition is all about – local history involving local people, ” said Ken.

The group’s website will be soon up and running and planning for the new 2025 season will begin with a meeting in February.

Anyone wishing to volunteer is welcome and those who want to find out more about volunteering should contact Ken on 0750-890-3870.
